Designed for real presence, without the noise.
Chat with one person at a time. No inbox full of strangers, no endless threads, no juggling ten conversations.
When either of you leaves, the conversation is deleted from both phones. Photos and voice notes open once.
See people around you without revealing where you are. Others only ever see a rounded distance like “1–5 km”.
Every screen follows the same calm, contour-neon look, so the focus stays on the person in front of you, not on the app.
See who's active around you, one card at a time. Skip or Connect. When you both connect, a chat opens.
Messages travel directly between the two phones, encrypted, and are never stored on our servers.
Photos come straight from the live camera, never your gallery, and can be opened once. Screenshots are blocked.
No tricks, no tracking, no ads. Plain and clear.
Messages, photos and voice notes are not saved on our servers. They're deleted from both phones when the chat ends.
No phone number, email or social login. Just a first name, date of birth and a live selfie.
Every account passes an age check at sign-up. Report or block anyone from inside the chat.
Quick answers about how Obscura keeps things simple and private.
Obscura uses your phone's approximate location. It's turned into a map area about a kilometre wide, and other people only see a rounded distance such as “1–5 km away”. When you both tap Connect, a private chat opens.
No. Photos are taken live in the app and voice notes are recorded in the chat. Each can be opened once, and nothing is uploaded to our servers. A filter on your phone blocks likely nude photos. Screenshots are blocked, but no app can stop someone photographing a screen with another device, so share only what you're comfortable with.
You enter your date of birth and take a live selfie. The selfie is checked once by Google's Gemini AI for an age estimate. Anyone who appears to be under 21 or enters an under-18 birth date is blocked, and the device can't retry for 30 days.
Open the menu in the chat and choose Report or Block. A report sends recent messages from that chat to our safety team, and blocking means you'll never see each other again.
In the app, open Settings and tap “Delete Account & Data”. Your profile, selfie, date of birth, location and notification token are removed right away. See account deletion for details.
Yes. Obscura is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
